Comedian Rob Cantrell will host the Cannabis Culture Film Fest at
Foothills PACC in Oneonta on Friday Sept. 5 and Saturday Sept. 6.
The traveling film festival has been in business for a decade,
touring the country showing stoner films. The 2025 Oneonta version
is sponsored by Film Otsego, Foothills and Dosha Farms Dispensary.
“We’re excited for a big star like Rob to meet our beautiful
Stoneonta,” Film Otsego Film Commissioner Greg Klein said.
“We have a great lineup of movies and he is the perfect guy to
host the weekend. It is going to be a great festival.”
Cantrell was on the Last OG, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and is
well known for his appearances on The Colbert Report. He has a
podcast about cannabis, The Cannabis Coffee Hour.
In addition to hosting Friday’s event, Cantrell will help judge
Saturday’s pitch competition and be on Saturday’s panel.
Movie tickets are free all weekend. However, there is a special
ticketed event Friday night, with Sum Noodle Coop serving food. A
21+ event with a $25 ticket allows food, free samples, popcorn,
and entry to the outdoor Hippy Hour Lounge. Go to @SumNoodleCoop

Doors open at 7 pm Friday, Sept. 5, with The Big Lewbowski
beginning at 8 pm. There will be a trivia contest and costume
contest.
Doors open at 12:30 pm Saturday, Sept. 6, with the pitch contest
beginning at 1 pm. At 2 pm, Cantrell with join Dosha president
Korey Rowe, CCFF executives David Walters and Tim Mattson, and
film maker Elana Frankel to discuss how cannabis is helping arts
communities.
Saturday movies will begin at 3 pm with two documentaries,
“Hempman Vs the State,” and “Rolled With Care.” The Long Shorts
block begins at 4:20, followed by the Short Shorts at 6:15 pm.
Astral Plane Drifter, the feature film, begins at 7:30 pm.
“It is going to be an amazing event,” Klein said. “I am excited
about the host, about the movies, about the film makers. CCFF has
a great reputation for hosting these events. We’re going to have a
great festival in September.”

Film Otsego secures funding for Made By New York Women Film
Festival
Community Foundation of Otsego County awards $6,575 for second-
annual event in Oneonta
ONEONTA, NY — The Community Foundation of Otsego County has
awarded Film Otsego a grant of $6,575 to fund the second annual
Made By New York Women Film Festival, which will take place March
6 to 8, at Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center in Oneonta.
“In three months, we’ve gone from anxiety about our inaugural
event taking place, to staging an incredible event, to securing
its future and making it an annual event,” said Greg Klein, Film
Commissioner for Film Otsego.
“Because of the Community Foundation of Otsego County, we have
ensured there will be another group of talented female filmmakers
visiting Oneonta and learning about what we have to offer as a
film making hub,” he continued. “Because of the Community
Foundation of Otsego County, we have ensured the event will be
free to the public and we can attract the biggest audiences
possible to support these film makers and watch their work.”
